Does anyone here ever dead stick for lakers. Looking for tips n tricks. Would like to try with some big baits to catch some lunkers. I see on youtube guys using 12” ciscoes. Do we have access to thoose here and can they be used ? Also. Do u have to match the bait in that certain lake or does it not overly matter ? Planning on using the quick strike rig approach. Also , do u need a jigging line beside to bring in fish in hopes of noticing the dead bait ? Thanks for any info !

I used everything Uncut angling used in these videos. This is the 2nd of 3 videos but it shows you a great laker. Watch the 1st of the 3 videos & you'll be good 👌

I personally use 8 to 10inch herring I buy from the superstore using a pike rig ( 2 trebles through the back ). Make sure to stab the herring a few times to bust the air bag & get it juicy lol. I caught this 15pounder & a few others the around the same weight last week using this technique

Maybe the increased number of lynx sightings in the city and area has something to do with the increased numbers of rat sightings. Predator following and staying close to it's prey. When food is plentiful more of the young survive. If this is the case they will be hunting throughout the city all year, not just the winter. Take extra care with small pets in your yard. Mother Nature can be cruel at times.

Unless you know someone who owns property close by the only place to access the river up thata way that I know of is at the end of Riverdale Rd. From there it will be approx. 1 1/2 mile sled run to the fishing grounds of the Oxbow. Lots of current even in the winter so be aware and careful. Parking on Riverdale may be tricky.

Something we failed to mention in these posts - safety. Once you know you have a problem and commit to the hunt and eradication there are a couple of things to know. When handling dead rats, used traps, re-baiting etc wear rubber, latex or some other type of glove. Put the dead rat in a plastic bag. Also in an enclosed area like in an attic, a closet, small shed etc wear a mask. Even a dusk mask will help protect you a bit better than nothing when you are sweeping up poop and dust. You don't want to be breathing it. I'm not going to get into the diseases you could get. Just google it.
