Converting 3-bench seat to pedestal seat with livewell/storage - where to start?

Recommended Posts

mikejson

I have a 16' Tracker, 3 bench seat boat. I was looking to upgrade to a pedestal seat tiller with livewell etc. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have the money for some time... so I am seeing if it is possible to convert a 3 bench seat boat to one similar to what I'm looking for.

Is this possible?

Where would I start?

I'm assuming I'd have to build it mostly out of aluminum framing, with marine plywood surfaces... and purchase the livewell, pumps, seats etc...

I googled for a while and couldn't really find anything, but does anyone know of plans? Something that will give me an idea of structure etc?

I'd probably not take this on until the end of the year... but figured I'd get an idea if it's possible and how much work is involved while I sit at home wishing I wasfishing!

Thank!

Mike.
