Buying used boat and trailer - what I need to do

Hi folks,

Anyone buy a used boat and trailer recently? What do I need to do to be legal? Transfer the trailer ownerships?(or say I built a trailer and register it that way??) Do I need to do anything for the boat?

Yup I just went through the process, I picked up a boat and trailer from Minnesota. You have to go to the MTO and transfer the ownership for the trailer, and pay the taxes. You can pay the taxes for the boat at the MTO also. If you are planning on running a 10hp or greater of the boat then you have to register it, you can pick up a boat registration package at Service Canada, not the MTO. It makes it a lot easier if you have receipts. Hope this helps!
