Guest fancy pants Report post Posted September 16, 2011 Wow the bush is thick still. I had trouble getting birds once they wandered off of the road. Nearly impossible. Got a few.....seen lots. I would follow a bird and hear how close it is but have no shot. I can't wait for fall now!!
Pro fisherman-Stud Muffin 420 Report post Posted September 19, 2011 recap of weekendI shot a limit in under an hour after arriving at camp on Friday at 930, my new record. The smallest group seen all wekkend was 3 but most were groups of 5 . and with my new mossberg pump i was getting at least 2 out of every group. Saturday i bagged 4 and a rabbit then Sunday a limit again. awesome weekend!!!! We had to travel roads that weren't pounded, main roads weren't producing as well as trails. I was traveleing at 20mph+ on atv and saw enough in middle of trail that crawling around slow looking through heavy brush wasnt worth it. i put on 130 miles all on trails!! hunting 3-5 hours a day with very little road travel. The early morning wasnt productive on thursday according to my partners so i concentrated the rest of weekend on hunting 930 till 1pm then again from 6 pm till dark. way less tiring than leaving at first light for a 6 hour hunt. this being my first bird season with ATV's I was really concerned that ATV noise would make the hunting harder as a truck allows to hear birds rustling as they run, but the speeds you can cover ground effectivley and the options of driving less traveled roads more than makes up for it.get on your bike and go fill your freezer!!!!
