Saskatchewan Resident Fined For Posing As Resident Hunter

A Saskatchewan resident has been fined a total of $2,500 for several hunting-related offences.

Richard T. Pesola of Estevan pleaded guilty and was fined $500 for possessing a void hunting licence, $1,000 for moose hunting without a valid licence and $1,000 for making a false statement on a Ministry of Natural Resources Ontario Resident Outdoors Card application.

The court heard that in May 2010, Pesola provided false information to apply for an Ontario Resident Outdoors Card. He then used the card to obtain an Ontario resident moose hunting licence and went moose hunting in Ontario during the fall of 2010.

Justice of the Peace Daisy Hoppe heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Ignace, on August 31, 2011.

A resident of Ontario is defined as a person whose primary residence is in Ontario and who has lived in Ontario for a period of at least six consecutive months during the 12 months immediately before applying for a licence.
