battery charging question

Finally got around to pulling my deep cycle cranking battery out of the boat and putting it on the charger. The charger said only 10% charge left but after 12 hrs of charging I can only get it up to 60% and then when I check it again the next day it says back down to 10%. Fluid levels look good and it is less than a year old and in a heated garage. Any ideas what this means? It is an interstate battery so should be good quality.
