Hi. I'm just wondering what the penalties/fines are for having a motorized vehicle (snowmachine, auger, outboard, etc) on a conservation lake such as quetico? Thanks

Quetico Park attracts people from all over the world because it is a wilderness park. Park wardens and Conservation Officers who find people operating augers, snowmachines, outboards etc. in the park can deal with them either through a warning, a ticket or a summons to appear in court. Equipment can also be seized and forfeited to the crown. The amount of a ticket varies between $75-$125 plus court costs. If you receive a summons to appear in court the presiding Justice of the Peace can impose the maximum set in the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserve Act, which for a first offence is $50,000.00 and/or 1 year imprisonment. The maximum fine goes up to $100,000.00 and/or 1 yr imprisonment for subsequent convictions under the act. Sounds like you're debating whether or not it's worth taking the chance of riding your snowmachine/quad or motorboat into the park. MNR carries out aerial enforcement flights throughout the year.
