Recommended Posts

Well, I am going to Attempt at making my own bow, Read about it, watched video and talked to a few bowers. Black ash and Pin Cherry are my woods I will try to make a bow with. Not sure of the poundage I will get but I hope its around 30# so I can hunt Rabbits and Grouse with them, Ill try and keep an up to date journal here on how I make out. Good or Bad!

Here are a few snaps of the staffs or staves.

Sweet! Ive made a few sapling bows out of maple, willow and other woods in the bush with good results. The highest poundage Ive got out of one was about 35 pounds.Ive also attemped making some flat bows with poor results(you need straight wood with no knots)Eventually I want to make a laminated longbow or recurve. That black ash will make a decent bow by the looks of it.Im going to make a few this summer,I have some decent staves in mind.Looking forward to see your result. ^_^

that is kind of cool, i think for now being an archery novice i will stick with my compound bow illuminated knocks and mechanical broadheads

but def keep us updated on your progress this traditional archery is fascinating.

Just adds to the joy of hunting when using your own equipment whether it be home made calls decoys bullets or bows.

and i would love to harvest a deer with equipment i made.

Can't put a price on that
