Fall / False spawn for pickerel and bass

I was fishing on the weekend up Black Sturgeon Rd at one of the lakes this past weekend and some of our pickerel and bass had eggs in them. I have asked around to some avid fishermen and some have come across this and others have not. Can you tell me why the fish have eggs in them this time of year??? Is there such a thing as a fall spawn or false spawn for these two kinds of fish??

Same thing happened to me last winter... Caught a few specks through the ice in February and they were full of eggs...

** People often ask me why I like hunting and fishing so much... I tell them that those are the only places where my mind doesn't think.... You should really try it sometime! **
