Croat 28 Report post Posted March 31, 2013 Was at sawmill Friday there are soft spots but early morning no problem for atv and snowmachines you can drive to birch but stay off skidoo trail track machine is trying to use trail and dummies with theyre pickups are punching holes on trail. He is having tough time pulling shacks off because trucks are screwing up trail.Once you make truck tracks water comes in and its done.I was only there for an hour or two at sandpoint and I saw couple nice eyes come out. Slick_Jig 6 Report post Posted April 2, 2013 Was out today, took the ATV well past sand point, no issues if you stayed on the packed trail.. Fishing was good Quote Gone Fishing Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths
WalleyeWayne 137 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 We were out Monday and everything was frozen solid - no slush. The road has deep ruts, but you could either sled or quad off the sides of the road. There were a few blow holes evident, but if you took your time it was all good. There were many ice huts still visible past Birch Island and there was one group near Birch that drove out in their truck. Lots of ice fishing to be had yet! speckmaster 114 Report post Posted April 6, 2013 Left the lake today at 1:00 and everything is really solid. There's about 4 inches of snow on top of two inches of frozen slush. A warm day might make it pretty messy. Still lots of shacks out. Fishing in the snow today was slow.
Foozer 194 Report post Posted April 9, 2013 With only 4 - 6 inches of slush and/or snow, is there still the possibility of driving a truck near sand point for this weekend? I imagine there is still ice, but was wondering how sloppy the conditions have gotten. I'd rather not take a sled across the most highly poiliced lake in the district. No need for me to get swarmed for a 17 year old 340 Puma without a sticker. Quote Since we can not call female anglers "fisherman" We should just call 'em hookers..... Pro fisherman-Stud Muffin 420 Report post Posted April 9, 2013 Nope. Sled only past birch. Wouldn't even take my atv out. my 600 with 1.75 paddles had a few dicey moments. But did limit in an hour mid day out on the lake. ! 1 Quote 2016 Dog Lake Open Champion. Thunder Bay BASSmasters Vice-President
