brookiebuster 117 Report post Posted November 24, 2012 My trigger lock broke so I'm wondering if I can just remove the bolt on my rifle when driving to my hunting spot as an alternative to a trigger lock because it makes it un-operable until I can get another one? Pro fisherman-Stud Muffin 420 Report post Posted November 24, 2012 you dont need a trigger lock to transport a rifle, just a case when its dark in an area normally inhabited by wildlife. a lock is for storage or transportation of a restricted like a pistol Quote 2016 Dog Lake Open Champion. naden 131 Report post Posted November 25, 2012 When storing your rifle at home the bolt can be removed and stored seperately as an alternative to a trigger lock. Trigger locks arent necessary for storage at home if your gun is locked in a case/cabinet or rendered inoperable in some other way. Also your rifle can be in a case locked in your vehicle out of site if you are storing it while away from home without a trigger lock. ammo only has to be locked if it is stored with the firearm, otherwise no requirement to lock up your ammo
