Guest MNR Report post Posted April 15, 2013 NO, not true. An aerial moose survey of WMU 13 was not conducted this past winter. Therefore the allocation of adult moose validation tags will remain the same as in 2012.However, a moose survey of WMU 15B was flown. The results of the WMU 15B survey indicated that the moose population had declined by approximately 20 percent. The following table shows the adjustments that were made to the tag allocations for WMU 15B from 2012 – 2013.Category Bulls 2012 Bulls 2013 Cows 2012 Cows 2013Resident Gun 1217 879 442 403Outfitter 58 47 15 18Archery 67 53 35 70The numbers also reflect an effort to bring the ratio of bulls to cows in the unit closer to a 40:60 split (bulls to cows). The 2013 hunting summary is now available on line at www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/FW/Publication/MNR_E001275P.html
