Guest MNR Report post Posted May 6, 2013 It is illegal under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act to buy or sell fish without the authority of a licence. Fish includes any part of a fish as well as the eggs, sperm, spawn, larvae and juvenile stages of fish. Roe obtained from licenced commercial operations such as aquaculture facilities is available for sale in some locations, but trout and salmon roe taken under a sport fishing licence cannot be legally bought and sold. Some fish diseases such as viral hemorrhagic septicaemia can be transmitted through eggs. To reduce the risk of transmitting diseases, anglers should use roe in the same area where it was collected.
