Floatation foam?

Recommended Posts

eddylives

Hey all....I need to rebuild the flotation devices in the back of our 14' mirrocraft....there are currently two plastic boxes at the transom which are starting to fall apart and crack....I am going to build lightweight aluminum boxes to replace them but would like to know what type of expansion foam to put into them.....I believe they used a spray in expansion foam at smiths rv for a friends boat on a recall notice......Any ideas?

Have no fear of perfection.....you will never reach it

You can put high density closed-cell polyurethane spray foam in. But it's pretty expensive if you go buy a kit to do it yourself. What I have done to save a few bucks is use the 2" rigid foam, cut it to size, and fill the gaps in with a small can of spray foam.

I would also recommend using rigid foam. You can get up to 4" thick. Will send you a PM.
