International Fishing License

Recommended Posts

mickleburgh2

My cousin has an exchange student in from Switzerland who has never fished before and would like to give it a try. I would be more than willing to take him out, but I am just wondering what he would have to do for a fishing license?

Thank you.

Your exchange student would be considered a non Canadian/Ontario resident under the residency rules (a resident is a person whose primary residence is in any part of Canada and who has lived in Canada/Ontario for a period of at least six consecutive months immediately before applying for a licence).

If he/she is under 18 years of age, they may fish without a licence if accompanied by a person who has a valid fishing licence. Any fish kept are part of the catch and possession limit of the person who holds the licence. As another option, non-Canadian residents under 18 years of age may purchase a licence to have thier own limits. A licence consists of a valid outdoor card and a valid fishing licence (for non residents).
