2-Year Limited Spring Bear Hunt

Not quite what I was expecting, with only a two-year hunt, it'll be extremely difficult for any outfitters to put together a spring hunt and get hunters!

Ultimately, it seems kind of useless...."to manage nuisance bears and reduce incidents of bear/ human conflict." As if this is going to make any difference in nuisance bear problems. This is really a joke; they're just doing it to keep the MPP's off their back for now.

Man you bear hunters are a cynical bunch. Take this news as a good starting point. The foot is in the door. Use the opportunity to show the benefits a spring bear hunt can have. Maybe then, the pilot will turn into standard practice.

Doesn't do a dam thing for the bear population in 11b. There's more bears everywhere, not just in urban wmu's. For sure a cop out to quiet the fire that was growing. The topic is dead for at least 2 years now.

What a crock. So if you don't live in a city, you don't matter, or at least your vote doesn't.

I wonder why the hunt does not include areas west of Thunder Bay? Why make the hunt open to Ontario residence only? I was under the impression that tourism was a good thing.

Gentlemen, we hear your frustration and believe me we are just as frustrated. Without the spring hunt in some WMU's and no non resident hunter, there is no economical opportunity for the outfitters.

But, up until a few days ago, we did not have a means of communications, as in the past, no agency would entertain a conversation regarding the Spring bear hunt. We now have something to work with and build upon. NOSA has never given up on seeing an open spring bear hunt season provincial wide and we will not stop until this has happened.
