flybum 95 Report post Posted February 4, 2014 I've heard lots of criticism, especially when using conventional gear. Fishing is the only sport I'm "left handed" in . I reel with my left cast with my right in both instances.http://www.orvis.com/news/fly-fishing/which-hand-is-the-right-hand-for-reeling/

AB 98 Report post Posted February 7, 2014 Most people have a dominant eye - the one the brain listens to a little better than the other to get us through life. We also have a dominant hand, one that has better fine motor control skills. In most of us, it's the hand we write with. If you think I'm kidding, try and thread a small bolt into its hole with the hand you don't write with. Try it where you can't see the hole and have to do it by feel. Chances are it will be more comfortable to do the same task with the hand you write with. Both yours hands work equally well. One will just feel slightly more natural than the other. Use which ever hand most natural for you and let the guy who isn't catching anything worry about the right and wrong hand to reel in a fish with.... iceman
