so what are your guys' favorite recipes for these little buggers? And whats the best way to freeze em i hear its best to do in some water?

My favorite is a recipie I originally found for pike, After the smelt are gutted I pat them dry, dip them in egg and cover them with crushed pretzles and maybe a bit of pepper and then fry them. The pretzles add a nice flavour and a little salt to the smelt. But honestly just fried up alone they can been good, in a little bacon fat even better, baked over a fire on a stick, there are few bad ways to eat a smelt.

Last year we did well on May 16th.

It was the Thursday night before the long weekend.

Took a good feed out to camp, rolled them in flour with salt and pepper, then fried 'em over open flame at camp.

Delicious.

Since we can not call female anglers "fisherman" We should just call 'em hookers.....

Can anyone confirm if there is a smelt run currently on in the city rivers?

Has anyone had any success with the Steelies run in the city rivers?

My favourite spot is by the Fort William road bridge in the intercity area.

Havent done smelting in years.

The Otter had a trout in paper, or you saw in the paper that an Otter had caught a trout near intercity? ;)

Just messing with you... or, rather, with your grammar. All in jest and fun. Good luck with the smelt and trout, and otters.
