flybum 95 Report post Posted May 8, 2014 If you've never tried it, you're missing out! Great stuff and it makes tying big streamers (and small bugs) even more enjoyable, and makes you're flies bulletproof. In the picture is the Thick, Thin, brushable and Hydro. Thee eyes are new for me, but I figured I would try em!
hookset 18 Report post Posted May 10, 2014 I was wondering about that uv epoxy. Don't laugh, but I've been using automotive goop to secure the eyes to my big streamers. Sometimes in fly tying you have to get inventive. Plus it was beside my tying station and I realized crazy glue wouldn't hold those eyes there long. What was the cost if you don't mind me asking. Snowball 75 Report post Posted May 10, 2014 Where is it available? Regards,Snowball
flybum 95 Report post Posted May 10, 2014 No laughing man. The biggest cost is the UV light but it lasts forever. You could get a light, a tube of thick and a tube of thin for 50$ ish. 2 tubes will give you a pile of flies. I use Gorilla super glue for my eyes initially, then coat them with the epoxy.Snowball, I ordered online. Clear Cure Goo had a 50% off sale about 2 weeks ago. Gone8to1248 158 Report post Posted May 10, 2014 When you use the goo with the Blue light it sets up in seconds once you hit it with the light.
Gone8to1248 158 Report post Posted May 10, 2014 The goo is also great for shaping heads on your flies.
