mikejson 35 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 Anyone know if there is anything crazy different between a high thrust outboard and a regular one? I know they are setup for a pontoon, but would it not work for a regular 16 foot boat?
Squaretail 38 Report post Posted May 12, 2014 It has the larger gear case which is tougher and gives more prop selections. Works fine on any boat but used on pontoon to allow for larger diameter high thrust props. It's a better setup, anytime you have a bigger gear case it's stronger. In mercurys case if it's a 40-60hp big foot it has the 75-115 hp gear case which is one of the best and strongest lower units.
