brookiebuster 117 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 Anybody ever try mouse patterns around here? Been thinking of trying some this summer at a few brookie lakes I fish. They look like they would be a lot of fun to fish lol. Quote "Whack em' and stack em',kill em' and grill em'" Ted Nugent
hookset 18 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 I hooked up one brookie with a mouse pattern. It shocked the heck out of me. I didn't think it was going to work. I was just seeing what the mouse looked like in the water.
Thefishleclair 174 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 Many times i have gutted and found mice in specks. The occasional bird as well. So I would see why a mouse should be in the box. I think my bro has hooked up on a few as well on his deer hair mouse patterns he tied. Quote Grumpas' Baits Check it out on FB
flybum 95 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 I tie a mouse pattern following a gurgler style. It's shown in one of the 2 fly tying threads. Rabbit strip tail, tie in foam, wrap the shank in natural rabbit strip(or color of your choice) and then part he foam and tie in up front. Toss it out and skate that past a beaver hut or log etc, hang on. I just used it for smallies a few weeks ago, was a blast.

brookiebuster 117 Report post Posted June 16, 2014 Looked at a few patterns online.. Going to tie up a few morrish mouse patterns. They look the easiest to tie and with all the foam looks like it would float all day long. Just need some foam and some new hooks and I'll be ready to tie up a batch!
