AmateurHourAngling 49 Report post Posted January 19, 2015 They wouldn't touch a small minnow so I tried a medium-large and that's what they took one after another, was just rigging it with a small gold buckshot and ripping it hard -JADEN
Porkchop21 34 Report post Posted January 19, 2015 I usually use a plain hook and medium minnows with a split shot, nothing fancy but it produces.

WalleyeWayne 137 Report post Posted January 20, 2015 We were out on Black Bay last Sunday and iced 3/4 of a 5 gallon pail of jumbo perch. You don't need to over-complicate it with throwing pots & pans down the hole. Our go-to was 1/16oz jigs (lipstick & peacock colors) with small minnows. Small jigging spoons tipped with a minnow worked also. The fish are there, you gotta entice them to eat.

Some Old Guy 968 Report post Posted January 24, 2015 I know that anyone can use whatever they want to get out there. But I have personally seen what Gary does to maintain the trail. He builds crossings over ice ridges and grooms the trail to make it comfortable for his customers. When somebody drives a quad or othe wheeled vehicle down the trail he makes, it wrecks it. Riding in the sleigh behind Gary's machine can get bone jarring. If you are heading out in an atv either stay to the side of the trail or blaze your own. I have seen some weird stuff. Like for example, a guy on a sled drives down the ice road at lac, stops in the middle if the ice road and drills a few hole right in the road and starts fishing!! Needless to say it ruined a large stretch of road. Anyways be a little courteous. We are all out there to have fun. Roger. 1 R.T.R. Respect the resource!
