Guest Patch Report post Posted September 12, 2007 G'day, I'm a little confused on the answers to the last two questions posed in this forum. The first was in response to the fellow hunting with a buddy who alos had a hunting licence but could not legally carry a gun. The reply in regards to the small game was there is no party hunting for small game, therefore the two could only have possession of 5 birds, shot by the first fellow obviously. The next question was about hunting with a person without a licence. The answer to that one stated: "Your friend could help carry the birds once they were harvested and you could give away your daily or possession limit of game birds to your friend, however, no one can be in possession of more game that allowed by law." Now, where I'm confused I guess is how come the guy without a hunting licence can have a limit of birds, but the fellow with a licence (but no gun) cannot? Do you require a licence in order to have a possession limit? Can you take non hunters with you and fill their limit? That doesn't make sense to me and I'd guess you cannot. Thanks for the clarification.
Guest Wes Report post Posted September 13, 2007 Patch, I think you misunderstood a little. The guy without a license can carry the other guys birds. The 2 guys still can only harvest 1 limit. Because there is only 1 license.
Some Old Guy 968 Report post Posted September 17, 2007 MNR Answer: Party hunting is only allowed for moose, deer and bear. If you and I were out hunting grouse together, I can’t fill your bag limit and mine, I hunt just for myself. At the end of the day, I’m allowed five birds. If I wanted to, I could give those birds away to anyone but I couldn’t go back out on the same day and shoot five more for me. No one is allowed to have more that the legal possession limit of game birds, no matter where they got them from. Ross Johnston Community Liaison Conservation Officer Suite B001, 435 S.
