hookset 18 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 With the ever changing landscape that is new age flys, what material have you come across. With all these new ( well new to me synthetics) its hard to stay on top of whats out there. I used angel silk for the first time and I'm asking how I ever tied a streamer before this material came into my life. It lays down smooth and is crazy simple to use. If you like tying 4" or smaller streamer, I recomend you try this product. It can be used in a dub application as well. Whatever trimming is left I place into small zip lock and save. I like to know or have some input before I place a order on new materials I haven't used. If anyone has a favorite material or comes across something new, post it up. flybum 95 Report post Posted February 24, 2015 As you've seen, I really like the Bruiser Blend dubbing from FlyFishFood.com. It's similar to Senyo Lazer dub. Great for building bulk without weight, making heads on streamers or as i have done lately, throats and bellys on my sliders. Very versatile stuff. Use it thick for streamers and bodies or dub it on thin for nymphs or dry flies.

flybum 95 Report post Posted March 7, 2015 Went BIG on some hook purchases the other day... Bigger than I thought. I went with a Partridge of reddich, attitude extra, 7/0.. They're massive. I bet you I could pull a car with one. The wire is insane!!! So thick! I have used 8/0 absolute predatorX, and they weren't even close... I'll use em, but i sure as hell hope I don't get hit by one!!!

Guest mud trout Report post Posted March 8, 2015 I think I cleaned Bill out of sclappen a few years ago.I guess he hasn't seen the need to replenish. That is one massive hook! good for getting deeper for spring lake trout.

flybum 95 Report post Posted March 8, 2015 Check out spirit River. The UV stuff is deadly.... If you're not in a rush, I'll probably put a decent order of schlappen in the next few weeks(2-4weeks)
