I noticed these trees while driving down to mission island, right by the neebing/McIntyre flood way. Definitely an eyesore. Is it even legal to do this?

We have the same problem at times in our neck of the woods. People taking the bark right off the side of a road. Birch bark crafts?

20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please God, don't take Kevin Bacon.

It is a perfectly legal practice here in NWO when done in the proper manner. (elsewhere??)

And yes it is done for arts and crafts lol

I know people that do it and before they started they made sure that this "bark stripping" practice was legal and that it did not harm the tree in any way.

The no harm was confirmed with the ministry in person.

I guess it's fine as long as they don't girdle the tree when making their cuts.
