flybum 95 Report post Posted December 10, 2015 Shot a "big doe" today... Found out it was a buck when I walked up to it... Is it me, or is this early to drop the antlers?

Dirttracker18 26 Report post Posted December 10, 2015 Could have broke them off. I saw pictures this year of a buck with an early break on one side, weeks later the other side was gone too. Quote The Great Outdoors
hunt or be hunted 59 Report post Posted December 10, 2015 I haven't ever shot one that's had its Anterls already fallen off this early but I have seen 2 really big bucks that I helped friends get out of the bush that soon as they grabbed the antler to look at its rack and take pictures fall right off in their hands, I know theirs lots that can affect this from lots of research I've done and the main cause I've read on early antler drop was either low nutrition levels, heavy antler weight and stress, mix all 3 together and its defifintly a cause for early antler drop in the season! . SherpaJ 45 Report post Posted December 15, 2015 Last year I had several bucks on trail camera that had lost one or both of their antlers by december 5th. Saw a small buck while in the Rainy River area last week that had lost one of its antlers. Its not all that uncommon.
