68camaro 1 Report post Posted December 9, 2015 Does anybody know if the ice conditions at Lac have improved or deteriorated over the past two weeks of warm weather?? I'm not sure if it has been cold enough at night to maintain or improve the ice conditions. If we get the snow that is expected for this weekend it will push back any hopes of getting out on the ice for a few more weeks, or possibly longer. Any thoughts/info would be appreciated. Mostly the info, not so much the thoughts. Lol.

MR.SAFETY 26 Report post Posted December 18, 2015 just talked to pine point resort and the latest report is as of tuesday dec 15 there is about 4 inches of ice 100 feet out from the landing. There is also still open water mid way out from shore towards the middle of the lake approximately 500 meters from shore. The open water is about 30 feet across or so and closing up every day, but none the less its still open water. Very little snow on the open part of the lake. On shore there are some bigger snow drifts but that is because of the strong winds they have had. No one has been out on the lake at that landing as of yet.
68camaro 1 Report post Posted December 20, 2015 Any updates on Sawmill Bay? I have heard that there are a few shacks out at Birch Island. Can anyone confirm this....and ice thickness??
Guest Grumman3hp Report post Posted December 20, 2015 Was at Pine Point today. Ice conditions as follows: Around the shorelines there is 5-6" of good solid ice. Out 100 feet from shore there was only 3 inches of good ice and an inch of slush on top with the remainder snow cover. I would not consider putting any vehicles on it. It appeared out in the middle that open water was present up to very recently.

Foozer 194 Report post Posted December 27, 2015 Fished Pine Point today. 4" good ice under 3-4 inches of slush with some crust on top. That's it! Walked about 100 yards along the shore line through a sloppy mess. No vehicles, or a shingle shack have made it on the ice. No one has ventured out by machine either. Resort owner said open water about 200 meters from shore just closed up a couple days ago. Quote Since we can not call female anglers "fisherman" We should just call 'em hookers..... Upsala is only a few KM away so I usually go by that weather forecast. Lake Superior acts as a furnace in the winter, and an AC unit in the winter. Here is the 14 day trend for Upsala. Seems the high next week of -5 lines up with those plus temps in town. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/14-day-weather-trend/ontario/upsala And I'm just replying with this info because I'm checking the board every couple hours for an ice report just in case my notification emails aren't working HAHAH

mikejson 35 Report post Posted December 29, 2015 Got an email update from the new sawmill owners. Not really anything more than we already knew but at least they sent one. I asked if trucks can pull to Birch yet. Several shacks have been towed to Birch. Only a few have been towed by trucks.... But depending on the weight of your set up..... It is possible
