Winter Fly Patterns

Recommended Posts

TroutHunter

So with the "warmer" weather coming in the next few days, I'm seriously thinking about braving the cold, jumping in the waders, and wetting a line out at Silver Islet.  I simply can't wait for spring haha.... That said, I need to do some tying.  I'm thinking of using the usual suspects (wooly buggers, leeches, and baitfish patterns).  I may try and make some smelt or sculpin patterns as well.  Any other thoughts or ideas for winter flies??  I'm not targeting anything specific, but I'm guessing i could get into some lakers, rainbows and whitefish... maybe coaster brookies??

** People often ask me why I like hunting and fishing so much... I tell them that those are the only places where my mind doesn't think.... You should really try it sometime! **
