Thefishleclair 175 Report post Posted January 28, 2016 OS, Last few years I have been burning non Traditional firewood in my trap cabin with great results, Found some dead Cedar trees and bucked them up. Burns hot and lasts for awhile in the stove I have. So for the ice hut I figure I would do the same and found a stand of Dead ones on an old beaver pond, Load the ole stove with that and the temp is just right in the Ice hut. I mixed it with some round semi green birch for the night burn and found that it was to much. And the smell is much more pleasant when the back draft of smoke comes out the door every time I open it and not to mention how light it is to carry.
