A bit off topic, I see you are using a Jawjacker, work well on the Perch? Can you get these locally? I am starting to get the ice fishing itch !

The Jaw jackers work well for perch on  Black Bay.

Inside one of Garry's day huts they are deadly. , Outside, not so hot until the temperatures warm up around the end of the season. Trigger mechanism can get ice in it and lock up on you. When they are ice free, the tension adjustment on the trigger can be turned down to the point that even a 3" perch will set it off.

If you purchase one, throw away the release lines they come with and custom make your own for better fit.

They are great out on Black Bay, sounds like a mouse trap going off and you know something has been at the bait.

A CO stopped by while we were out there. He questioned our automatic jigger. Reasoning on this was if it was spring loaded it would be illegal to fish with in Ontario. A jaw jacker is a spring loaded device. Take it as you wish. See you out there Garry

If a jaw jacker is considered spring loaded then so are down riggers.

This is has been brought up in the past. They are legal.

This picture is illegal.

Been thinking of what he said. If I recall he called it spring loaded due to the rod being under tension. I agree then wouldn't down riggers be illegal as wel as roger pointed out. I'll just take the ticket when he gives it and fight it later

Try the Blackfox Trigger! They are approx. 1/3 the price of a jawjacker and alot less parts to lose or freeze up!  Can put a bell on the rod so when it goes off you will hear it!   You can also set the sensitivity depending what species of fish your fishing.
