Nnev 70 Report post Posted January 31, 2017 Anyone know how the ice is. I haven't fished herring in as long as I can remember but I don't think I was too far out... any tips would be appreciated.
kbrest 151 Report post Posted January 31, 2017 I checked the ice early january and it was basically non-existent. And that was before the warm up lol. However looking at it now seems to be trying to make ice and the weather is supposed to be consistently below freezing for the next while. I will be taking a ride out soon and can post an update. Ive been wanting to get out myself.

SILVER MINNOW BAIT SHOP 129 Report post Posted February 13, 2017 Where do you access to fish by caribou and did you go out past caribou to the far shoreline? Just wondering if ice is safe all the way out Quote Silver Minnow Bait Shop

Just wondering if ice is safe all the way out I wouldn't attempt to do that this season. I drive down that way for work everyday and there was pockets of open water out there that I could see from the hwy less than a week ago including inside of caribou island. Stay on the bay's end side of it and don't go out too far past caribou it can't be safe yet and warm weather is coming soon. Quote AGGGH
flyndie22 15 Report post Posted February 13, 2017 Yes I wouldn't go ripping around cariboo I was by the sleeping giant and cariboo island there was almost a foot of ice and even when I was dropping my lures it seemed like there was alot of current I wouldn't go out of the bay
