Aussie new to Thunderbay

Recommended Posts

Chrisso

Hi there I'm an Aussie freshly married to a thunderbay woman. I love to fish and am use to rock fishing in Australia. I just don't know too much about fishing in Canuck waters. I don't have a boat currently and would like to know where is the best spots to fish off the shore or dock. Can anyone help with a few spots to shore fish and recommend the fish to target in those spots please

Chrisso,

I hope your new bride didn't tell you about all the fishing to be done in Thunder Bay.......she lied. There are no fish here.

Any pictures she or her family may have shown you of fish and fishing related activities were likely taken in Manitoba - next province to the west.

Seriously though, congratulations, folks around here will likely PM you a few spots to try.

There have been a few threats regarding fishing spots around Thunder Bay.  Here's a link to one that was going a month or so ago....

Good luck, you're sure to catch something around here!

** People often ask me why I like hunting and fishing so much... I tell them that those are the only places where my mind doesn't think.... You should really try it sometime! **

Just watch out for Drop Bears! When venturing out. And our skimpys only take Canadian tire money😏  On a serious note fishing from shore for you will be a new adventure. I have had a few Aussie friends and they loved fisheing here. Places to try would be

cloud lake

hazelwood lake

boulevard lake

kam river

to list a few.

Lol drop bears are cool they drink my kind of rum but I think the black bears are more of an issue. Thanks for all the advice I will try them all out. I've tried the fishermans warf at the base of current river with no luck so far. I used egg sacks on a float but I think I'm going to try using a spinner next time.
