Drop shot technique

Recommended Posts

gsambray

So I've decided to try out some different methods of rigging up my line lately. Tomorrow morning I'm going to try drop shot but fishing from shore. I've heard a lot of good things about this and figured why not try it. Anyone else use this technique?  Ever try it from shore?  How were your results?

It's more of a vertical presentation but you can modify it.

I I use a jig as the bottom weight and then a drop shot hook about 10 inches up from the jig. I cast this and drag/jig it back to the boat. So it would work from shore.

It work great. I found that a shorter distance between the hook and the weight worked better. Only had an 8 inch gap. Used live worms and couldn't keep the perch off the hook. They were all small and I released them all but 23 perch from shore in the middle of town is a good day
