Walleye lakes within an hour

Recommended Posts

Not expecting anyone to give away their secret spots but I fish mostly around Dryden, camp is there but I live in TBay.  I've not really tried fishing around TBay other than Kashabowie, I know the Kam can be a great spot.  Just wondering as I have a Lund Explorer 1675 (17 FT), not huge but not small either.....just wondering what lakes I should stick to.  I've heard good things about Fraser Lake and a couple others but I know a lot of these lakes are rocky and I do not know them well and I'd rather not lose my prop or worse.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Everyone always told me about how bad Frazer was for rocks, I fished it for the first time this year and yes there are rocks and shoals but most were in obvious places, go slow your first time and you will be fine. Some of the shoals can be seen using google earth, flash earth, or comap.ca

Whitefish is an easy one, as is Cloud Lake.  Cheeseman prob pushes the hour mark but 99% highway.

The Anglers Atlas app is a nice tool - lots of countour maps for inland lakes, but go slow as lots of lakes will surprise you with a sudden rock or reef.

Frazer does have rocks in not so obvious spots. It's the rocks that aren't obvious are the ones you have to worry about!

If it's the one off 527 I have. Small lake. Fished it in a canoe off the rock cliff to the right. Got two nice Walleye there. Both overs. That was several years ago though. Didn't fish long. Wife decided she needed to flip the canoe but before it actually happened I called it a day.

@bocca @Bobber Down where  abouts is penny lake?

It's up hwy 527. Can't remember the exact mile. Road was in good shape (I thought at the time that they must be hauling out of the area) when I was there and it runs along the side of the lake where you can throw a canoe or small boat in very easily and there were a few places to park. Watch for traffic. Things can change though from the time (3 years ago) that this original thread was made. Maybe someone else has been in there more recently and will answer. Kab (Kabitotikwia) Lake is the lake south east of Penny in the pic
