I have tried minnows and worms for specks. I was thinking about wax worms. Have any of you tried wax worms for specks?

Wax worms work. Trying to find them is hard though. I use Berkley wax worms and they work, too.

I wonder if pet stores would carry wax worms for lizards, turtles, etc?

** People often ask me why I like hunting and fishing so much... I tell them that those are the only places where my mind doesn't think.... You should really try it sometime! **

Try some strips of liver, Jig em up or even dead sticking. I always wanted to try it. The specks were all raised eating pellets and after smelling some I figured a liver strip would work decent.

I usually use small minnows on a set line. If just a minnow isn't working I tie on a small gold Williams wobbler (no hook) then tie about 8" of line to a hook below it. As the minnow swims it makes the spoon dance acting as a flasher. Jigging I use small panfish style tube jigs or buck shot rattle spoons. If that doesn't work I go home and drink.
