If you’re just carrying a hand auger you would be alright. Hiked down pulling a hut, gas auger, and Marcum. The uphill hike out with that gear was exhausting though

RLS 35 Report post Posted January 24, 2018 I walk out there quite a bit. I go for whitefish and herring. The walk for good laker fishing is far. I only bring what I need in a back pack and a hand auger. The walk out is not bad...the walk back is all up hill. Good luck!
ottoman82 41 Report post Posted February 2, 2018 Hey guys I am new to ice fishing on superior for lake trout. Is it possible or safe to make it to Caribou from Bays End in a Polaris RZR side by side? I don't have a snow machine and that is quite the walk. Cheers

Cheers Safe depending on where you are planning to head out from. Sare road is where I access bays end; it is a private road that the owner allows access for folks fishing however it is for snowmachines or walking/skiing only. No ATV/SxS. I'm unsure where any other access points are and what the ice would be like from those areas.
