Waterline woes. Brown scum

Recommended Posts

What causes that browny yellowish scum line on the bottom of boats? Anyone have experience with products available locally to defend against it or clean it off and not damage glass or paint.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW - what a ride!!!

Try spray 9 I used it last yr and worked pretty good . I would also suggest super cln by cackastrol but it says not to use on aluminum , I used it before and it works really good , also there's a whole whack of boat clnr stuff at CTC.

Sunlight dish soap and some elbow grease. When I fish the Kam River I get that on my boat.

I always wash my boat between water bodies. That includes flushing out and cleaning live wells, pumps, bilge and bilge areas.

I'm scared to talk like that. I get in trouble when I take the sunlight dish soap and she sees I'm not doing the dishes!

I have a white Lund and I get those brown stains on the sides where it meets the water line. I tried various soaps but they didn't work that great. I then tried Nu Finish polish and it took the stains off immediately with no fuss.
