Changing the colour of your live bait

Recommended Posts

Bobber Down

Have any members used live bait dye? Does it work as advertised? There are several brands on the market. Looks like an easy and effective way to change your minnows colour. One would think a red, blue or chartreuse minnow swimming around in the weeds or rocks would attract some extra attention.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW - what a ride!!!

I use the Pautzke fire dye. It works very well on live minnows/suckers.I use Firebrine for dead smelts.
