I fish the current river alot, and have heard various answers to my question. How far down below the boulevard dam do you have to be to fish legally? Do you have to go below the cumberland/hodder bridge? or can i fish between the two, the dam and the bridge

It is illegal to fish within 22.9m (75ft.) downstream from the lower entrance to any fishway or canal, obstacle, or any device designed to assist fish around an obstacle. There is a fish ladder attached to the east end of the dam at Boulevard Lake and therefore it would be illegal to fish in any manner within 22.9 m downstream of the ladder.

Current River is located within Zone 6 of the new Fisheries Management Zones and is a tributary to Lake Superior. The portion of the river between the dam at Boulevard Lake and Shipyard Drive has special regulations for Brook Trout

“Current River downstream from Boulevard Lake Dam (48°27’N 88°11’W) Brook Trout Standard Catch & Possession =1, Conservation Catch & Possession =0, must be greater than 56cm (22 inches)”

Lake Superior is a Zone all to itself (Zone 9) with some species limits being quite different than Zone 6 (Walleye for example).

The division between Zone 6 and Zone 9 is Shipyard Drive.
