Loch Lomond Lake

Recommended Posts

Guest Hardy

I'm not sure if I`m asking the right people here,, but....

I heard in the news last week that Thunder Bay is finally shutting off the supply from Loch Lomond next week and going fully to single source water.

I`ve looked in the exclusions in the fishing regs, and it mentions nothing about Loch Lomond. Now I realize that the city has a no trespassing thing for the watershed.

My point being - now that it won`t be the municipal water source any longer, is there any chance that Loch Lomond will become another great fishing opportunity right on our doorstep in the future??

MNR Answer:

Loch Lomond is completely surrounded by private land and Federal Reserve (Fort William First Nation) and therefore access would have to be with the land owners’ permission.

MNR has not imposed any special fishing regulations for this lake.

The City of Thunder Bay however has extended its watershed protection plan for Loch Lomond for one year.
