Guest MNR Report post Posted June 13, 2008 Under the Fisheries Act ( R.S., 1985, c. F-14 ) it is against the law for anyone to leave or deposit or cause to be thrown, left or deposited, on the shore, beach or bank of any water the remains (offal) of fish. Fish guts dumped into the water will eventually disappear. If left on shore, they will either get eaten or decompose but could create a nuisance situation. Fish remains may legally be buried on shore above the high water mark, but they could also get dug up by scavengers, also creating a nuisance situation. Obviously, common sense should also prevail and a conscientious angler will ensure that fish entrails are not deposited in the water in locations used for swimming or wading or where they will create an eyesore.
