*Fishing/Camping/Hunting Safety 101*

Recommended Posts

Guest Kevin Carlson

I've already lost track of the number of people that have gone missing this summer while fishing/camping.

Please, if you go out, let someone know WHERE you're going and when you'll be back. Telling someone you're going "somewhere up 527 or near Black Sturgeon" doesn't cut it...

If you have problems and the police become involved to search for you, vague directions to spouses or friends can make the difference, sometimes between life and death (or at the very least, maybe a cold night out).

And remember, all that $ for search teams costs all taxpayers in the end... so please be responsible!

Cheers

That's some great advice Kevin. People tend to get complacent when it comes to outdoor safety and informing loved ones of their plans.

I always tell my wife and then write down exactly where I'm going and what time to expect me back.
