Piano hinges

Recommended Posts

Guest ratherfishthanwork

Looking to modify the front end of my boat by removing the elevated bow floor and locating a couple of batteries beneath the floor. Where can I buy a piano hinge and do I use aluminium or stainless?

Thanks

Maier Hardware on Algoma. Don't think it would matter, but your challenge will be to find an aluminum one, or even a stainless one, however, I think the ones that you will find at a hardware store may just be nickle plated, the plain steel ones will rust in no time.

You can also try George Hill Supply on Balmoral. Pretty sure they have them as well.

Just came back from Maier Hardware on Algoma, they have the stainless piano hinges up to 6 feet in length, and will also cut to what size you need.

Thanks George, stopped in at George O Hill on the weekend and they only have 6 footers but no mention of cutting. I was Having a beer and talking to a neighbour the other day and we were talking about cutting them, could not figure out how it's done. Will head to Maier's for the hinges, Thanks
