$7,000 In Fines For Illegal Moose Hunting

Recommended Posts

Some Old Guy

A moose hunting trip resulted in $7,000 in fines for four southern Ontario men.

Grzegorz Krasowski and Jan Debski, both of Mississauga, Janusz Lewandowski of Barrie and Marian Dabrowski of Brampton were fined $1,000 each for failing to provide information during an inspection. They are all prohibited from hunting in Ontario for six months. In addition, Debski and Lewandowski were each fined $1,500 for using a firearm carelessly to hunt. They must pass the Ontario Hunter Education Course before they can hunt in Ontario again.

Court heard that on October 13, 2008, conservation officers contacted the group on a main logging road north of Nipigon. It was determined that shots were fired down the road at a cow moose.

Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Thunder Bay, on July 7, 2010.

The ministry reminds hunters that it is illegal to shoot from, down or across a public road.
