Guest MNR Report post Posted September 9, 2010 To hunt migratory birds, you must have a Federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit and a Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp, as well as a valid outdoors card and a small game licence. Your apprentice must have passed the Ontario Hunter Apprenticeship Safety Program and obtained either the Class A1 (for guns and bows) or a Class 2 (bows only) card. The program allows individuals to safely develop their hunting skills under the direct and immediate supervision of a qualified mentor. The apprentice must share a single firearm with the mentor and must possess a federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit to be able to hunt migratory birds. The apprentice may take his/her own limit of migratory birds. All other game birds or wildlife must be added to the daily bag limit of the mentor. The apprentice must carry their Hunter Apprenticeship Safety Card with them while hunting.
