MNR Answer:

The Nipigon River falls entirely within Fishing Division 21. The seasons, possession limits and exceptions are listed in the 2005-2006 Summary of Fishing Regulations beginning on page 67 (Northwestern Ontario-Map E). The summary is free and available at numerous sporting goods retail outlets across northwestern Ontario. These rules are still in effect until the new summary is released in the spring of 2007. Some of the information below will change once the new regulations are released.

To use the summary;

Look for the species you want to fish for on the table on pages 68 & 69. This will give you the general open/closed seasons and catch and possession limits for Division 21.

Then look for exceptions to these general rules, for the specific water body (Nipigon River/Lake Superior Tributaries) you want to fish on pages 75 ? 82. The lakes and rivers are listed in alphabetical order to make them easier to find.

Using the steps above, here?s what can be fished for now (March 28, 2007) on the Nipigon River
