Bobber Down 921 Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Everyone has experienced minnows dying on them. We all go to great lengths trying to keep them alive. Here is a jigging technique I was shown using dead bent minnows. Take 6 or 8 or whatever number you like out of your minnow bucket or livewell and let them die. In about half hour or so rigermortis will set in and the minnows will assume a bent position. Hook them through the head and now when you jig not only do you get the up and down motion, they will also jump side to side as well, driving the fish crazy. Any other tips or techniques out there? Bear 77 Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Doug If I was going to do what you suggest, I would put a swivel about 2 feet above my jig. This would eliminate the line twist you will likey get from this technique. Bear
Jared720 10 Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Above that barrel swivel I would put on a small octopus hook with a wax worm. Sometimes it's good to have 2 radically different presentations for the fish to choose from and in this case 1 the bottom bar hook or jig (pimple, kastmaster, etc.) has a shiner, crappie, etc. minnow on it and 1-2 ft. above you have a tiny little waxie. They call this a dropper technique and is proven affective on whities and perch. J
