RCR 4 Report post Posted January 27, 2015 I was out yesterday. Whitefish are a bit slow but still bringing some home.Ice is good about 20 inches.
therealfndeal 61 Report post Posted January 27, 2015 Right on hoping to head out Thursday morning hoping for herring mostly need some for the smoker
scandiman 114 Report post Posted January 28, 2015 Herring are definitely there, coming in waves. Hammered them just under the ice (3-4 ft) in 40 FOW. Lots of fun. As mentioned before, the whitefish bite has been moderate but bringing home some for the smoker. Bonus to be able to drive the truck right to the lake

Guest magicfishing Report post Posted January 30, 2015 therealfndeal - did they plow the road right to the mouth of the jackpine or is it accessed by snowmobile only?
scandiman 114 Report post Posted January 30, 2015 therealfndeal - did they plow the road right to the mouth of the jackpine or is it accessed by snowmobile only? Its not plowed but has been accessed by trucks (including mine) several times throughout the winter. There is not much snow anywhere so its been accessible that way. Definitely wouldn't want to go in there with 2WD truck though, unless you have outstanding tires.
therealfndeal 61 Report post Posted January 30, 2015 Yup don't reccomend 2wd trucks unless your going with some one that has 4x4
matthenry 1 Report post Posted March 4, 2015 Has anyone been out there recently and know how the fish are biting and if you can still drive down the road with a truck?
scandiman 114 Report post Posted March 5, 2015 Yeah I have been going out there steady throughout the winter and the fishing has been great. A few slower days but always manage to land several fish. Whities, lakers and herring. As for driving a truck to the lake, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to spend most of the day getting unstuck lol. Sleds or walking only.

scandiman 114 Report post Posted March 5, 2015 Forgot to mention, do not park near the railroad tracks. If rail crews come in to do any maintenance they will have vehicles towed. Park further up towards the highway or south of the tracks along the side of road.
