Hi everyone, I just want to stress the fact that WE are not the only user groups of our local waterways. We need to be careful and make sure we do not leave hooks laying around. If a dull hook is too heavy for you to carry home and discard properly then you shouldn't be fishing in the first place. Lots of people walk their dogs along our rivers and enjoy watching people fish. Even a closely watched dog will pick up a discarded spawn sack. I know of one TBF member whose dog fetched him a $1400 vet bill, last year, to remove a discarded spawn sack. My dog also needed a hook removed from the back of her tongue. While I am at it. Take your damn coffee cups/water bottles home with you too. Wes

Amen Wes. I know of two more dogs that ingested discarded spawnbags/hooks last year. Come on people, is this really the type of image of steelhead fishermen we want the general pubic to have? I fill my vest pockets with my bent/dull hooks, line, sinkers and anything else I carry in with me, as well as any of this crap that I find on the ground while fishing. This year I'm going to keep it all until the season is done and show you all how much one person can pick up in six weeks. You'll be astonished.

Hi all, Just giving you a heads up with what's going on with the board here. #1 It's really secure. You as a member can actually flag someone as a spammer. Also trying to get in is going to be hard as the board is set up to update itself with the latest defence of board spamming programming. #2 A reputation system. If you like what a member posted you can give them a reputation point. It's at the bottom right of their post. The green button boosts their rep. The red one decreaes it. (The board has an abuse system on it for this though.) #3 You can integrate it with your facebook, twitter and such. I think I have it set up properly but I can't be sure. Someone will have to test that for me. #4 Once I have it set up you can post your own background to customize your posts #5 I'm an ugly male, smile if you want me. #6 There will be an updated system that awards points to determine a member of the month. There will be a certain critiria for this. #7 there are many add-ons that I will be searching and adding. So watch for updates. #8 How many of you smiled at #5? Got ya! Ha Ha! Roger

A sane person wouldn't ask you to do any such thing Rog, but I guess what most of us hope is that people will just think about what they are posting before hitting the submit button. If you like steelhead fishing, great. If you want them to be around for your kids and grandkids to enjoy as well, even better, but if everyone and their dogs swarms a particular stream just as the run peaks, theres a good chance that after a few seasons the population will be in trouble. Fact of the matter is that this very scenario has happened in the past, and not just with steelhead. I can think of many naturally reproducing brook trout lakes that I used to fish as a young man that are virtually fish less because of over exploitation. This is exactly why natural brook trout lakes are closed to ice fishing. They are too fragile to support the pressure that will come once word gets out.
