Just wanted to throw out a thank you Gary for your services Saturday. Was beauty weather and a great time. You were working hard and soak and wet helping get those bikes out but still happy at the end of the day (albeit tired). Fishing was a bit slow but not too bad for our group. You run a good business and I will always recommend people head your way when thinking Black Bay.

Never got to posting. But this is my son's first deer he got this fall. Hopefully 2017 will bring him his first moose.

Was out there on Sunday in plus 8-9 degree weather. Ice varied depending on where you went. We fish near the narrowing of the river on south end so there were spots that only had 6" or so. Slush was getting heavy. Definitely less ice than there has been in previous years but I saw folks fishing almost as far out as the bald rock face. That said, Monday brought lots of rain so be very careful if heading out onto the ice. Main basin should still have a fair bit of ice but I wouldn't venture out too far.

Don't bang the auger on the ice. You end up losing the edge on the blades.

When with a dog on the lake remove hooks as soon as they come out of the water. This tip may save you $400 in vet bills. Figured this one out the hard way. But at least I can say I hooked a 55lber on whitefish lake

Always put on your blade guard on your auger when you are finished drilling your holes. Prevent a simple accident. My buddies dog cut himself pretty bad today.

If you use a flasher or fish finder with a transducer, drill a second hole right beside the hole you are fishing. This way you don't have to yank the transducer out of the hole each time you're trying to land a fish. Roger
